We are seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic individual with a strong record of teaching three-dimensional disciplines in ceramics, sculpture, 3D design and/or metalworks as well as the capability to teach other departmental/divisional offerings such as Art Appreciation and/or 2D Design based on programmatic needs. Experience teaching Humanities foundation courses and gallery operations is preferred. The faculty member should be flexible, with broad interests, and possess a willingness to teach in a variety of areas and modalities and use innovative and inclusive teaching strategies.

This position reports to the Dean for Arts, Humanities, & Communication.

The salary range for this position is $80,024.00 - $84,074.00 for a 176-day contract over the Instructional Year (Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters). Additional compensation may be available for assignment of summer quarter courses or courses taught outside of the full-time position during fall, winter and spring quarters.

Relocation expenses are part of the employment offer for the successful candidate if the candidate relocates to the Tri-Cities area from outside of a 175-mile radius.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Dedication to scholarly pursuits within one's area of specialty, contributing to the academic rigor and reputation of the college.
  • A commitment to actively contribute to the design and evaluation of learning outcomes, playing a key role in the college's efforts towards institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Fine Arts degree from a nationally accredited college or university;
  • Two (2) years of full-time/full-time equivalent college-level teaching experience beyond graduate school;
  • Experience with instructional technology (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, an LMS);
  • Experience teaching foundational courses in 3D design, sculpture, ceramics and/or metalsmithing or related instructional experience.
  • Experience with 3D studio lab management with a focus on studio/equipment/supply maintenance, health and safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive and equitable learning environment, with a focus on supporting the academic success of Hispanic and other underserved populations. Experience incorporating inclusive pedagogy and addressing challenges unique to these populations, informed by both personal and professional insights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis on 3D arts or related field from a nationally accredited college or university;
  • Experience teaching at a community college and/or the freshman and sophomore levels;
  • Experience with eLearning methodologies, including web-enhanced, blended, and/or hybrid instruction;
  • Experience instructing two or more areas within the 3D arts;
  • Experience teaching 2D design and Humanities foundation courses;
  • Experience with gallery operations and management;
  • Bilingual in English and in Spanish.
