The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Department of Psychological Sciences invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Psychology. Principal responsibilities will include teaching Abnormal Psychology and one or more of the following: General Psychology, Research Methods, Behavioral Statistics.
Candidates are expected to develop and maintain a research program that involves undergraduate students. UW-River Falls recently opened our new Science and Technology Innovation Center (SciTech) that houses Psychological Sciences as well as Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. Departmental facilities include dedicated spaces and state-of-the-art equipment for behavioral research.
Candidates are also expected to mentor and advise students and provide service to the department, college, and university.
The position is a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position, with a teaching load of twelve credits per semester. The appointment begins August 2026. Compensation is based on qualifications, including education and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively teach two to three sections of Abnormal Psychology per academic year
- Effectively teach one or more of the following: General Psychology, Research Methods, Behavioral Statistics
- Develop and maintain a research program that involves undergraduate students
- Serve as a faculty mentor and academic advisor to undergraduate students
- Contribute through service to the department, college, and university
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Psychology (PhD, EdD, or PsyD) or a closely related field at the time of appointment
- Experience teaching and/or preparation to effectively teach courses in Abnormal Psychology and one or more of the following: General Psychology, Research Methods, Behavioral Statistics
- Demonstrated commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and pedagogical development
- Experience with and/or preparation for developing and maintaining a research program involving undergraduate students
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience teaching and/or preparation to effectively teach other courses that support or extend our departmental curriculum
