The Social Science Department at New York City College of Technology (City Tech), a comprehensive college of the City University of New York (CUNY) offering associate and baccalaureate degree programs, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026.
The Department of Social Science is a multidisciplinary department that offers an academic minor in psychology and is seeking to develop a bachelor's degree program. The department comprises the disciplines of anthropology, economics, geography, government, history, philosophy, psychology, and sociology. In addition to the academic minor in psychology, the department offers a baccalaureate degree in data analytics (economics) and academic minors in history, environmental studies, and economics.
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Social Science, the Assistant Professor’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teach primarily introductory and upper-level psychology courses, including in-person, hybrid, and online formats.
- Participate in the development and assessment of new curricula and pedagogical approaches.
- Provide student advisement and mentoring.
- Contribute to department, school, college, and university service activities, including but not limited to college governance, program assessment, day-to-day operation, and student recruitment and retention.
- Research resulting in publications and presentations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support departmental initiatives and college-wide programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Psychology or related field. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Scholarly focus in experimental psychology is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of psychology courses at the college level
- Strong commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and learning
- An active research program with record of scholarly publications
- Demonstrated ability to work across disciplinary boundaries
- Experience with diverse student populations in a metropolitan setting
- Experience using online learning management systems such as Brightspace
