Religious Studies at CUHK is ranked 32nd globally in the QS World University Rankings by Subject. The Department plays a significant role in developing religious studies in the Chinese-speaking world.

The Department invites applications for an Assistant Professorship in Religious Studies. We welcome applicants with academic interests in Religion and Society (broadly defined), including, but not limited to, the sociology of religion, the psychology of religion, religion and gender, and religion and the environment.

Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in religious studies or any discipline in the social sciences (e.g., sociology, anthropology, psychology); (ii) demonstrated original and outstanding records in related fields (as evidenced by research projects and outputs); (iii) a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate religious studies courses; and (iv) a commitment to organizing programme-related activities.

An appointment will initially be made on a contract basis for up to 2 years, commencing in January 2027, renewable subject to budget, performance, and mutual agreement.
