Position Overview
The Department of Landscape Architecture in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Cornell University welcomes applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant professor level with experience and expertise in materials, construction methods, and design.
This position includes 70% teaching and 30% research responsibilities. The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching while pursuing research, creative inquiry, and leadership activities that contribute a critical perspective to the discipline and profession as well as the vibrant culture of inclusive excellence at Cornell.

- Degrees offered:
- MLA: Foundational, historical, theoretical, technical, and skills-based grounding in landscape architecture
- MPS: One-year immersive course of study including a collaborative research project
- BSLA: Undergraduate professional degree combining sciences, humanities, and studio-based design curriculum
The department seeks candidates who recognize the complex history of landscape architecture in contributing to inequities in the built environment and who aim to create more equitable futures.
Responsibilities
- Teaching (70%): Site assembly, materials, construction methods, and design studio courses
- Research (30%): Creative inquiry, leadership in research projects, and contributions to the field
- Department affiliation: Mentoring programs will support professional development and guidance
Qualifications
- Required: Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture (MLA) or a graduate professional degree in a related field, such as Master of Architecture (MArch)
- Preferred: Ph.D. in a related field, interdisciplinary experience in practice or research, and/or design studio teaching experience

Salary and Benefits
