"Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream (CLTA) in Immunology"

The Department of Immunology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications for a two-year full time teaching stream contractually limited term appointment (CLTA) in Immunology at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.

Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Immunology or a related discipline by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures at the undergraduate level. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below) as well as strong letters of reference.

The salary range is $110,000 - $115,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.

The Department of Immunology’s undergraduate curriculum includes courses that span foundational to advanced topics in immunology. Faculty are expected to integrate their disciplinary expertise with best practices in teaching to create inclusive, engaging, and research-informed learning environments that support student success and inspire the next generation of immunologists.

The successful candidate will also teach courses in Trinity One program at Trinity College. Trinity College is an undergraduate institution that hosts several programs. Trinity One attracts top science students within the university. The successful candidate will develop a full-year seminar that delves into contemporary issues in scientific research. The seminar will be organized around discussion and collaborative learning, with a special focus on knowledge translation and dissemination.

In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the academic life of the department and College through service activities such as academic advising, program development, and participation in departmental initiatives.
