Assistant Professor (Tenure Stream) or Associate Professor (with Tenure) in Leadership and Civic Engagement
Wilson College of Leadership and Civic Engagement invites applications for a position at the level of assistant professor (tenure stream) or associate professor (with tenure) appointed to an existing department in the McMaster Faculty of Social Sciences with affiliation to Wilson College. Teaching and service obligations will be split 50:50 between the two units. At McMaster, the Social Science departments are: Anthropology; Economics; Health, Aging & Society; Indigenous Studies; Labour Studies; Political Science; Religious Studies; Sociology; and the School of Social Work. The appointment is anticipated to begin July 1, 2026.
We welcome applications from those with research and teaching specialties that align with the College’s vision, including those that offer critical and interdisciplinary perspectives. We are particularly interested in applicants with strong academic achievements, given career stage, and interest in community-engaged or other applied research. Applicants are expected to hold a PhD at the time of appointment and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level. In the College, we are interested in candidates who can teach WILSON 2D03: Deconstructing Leadership: Leadership and Diversity as part of their courseload and who have interest in teaching from diverse, critical perspectives. We are also interested in candidates with interest in experiential education. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the educational, research and service missions of their home department.
