Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) - History: Latinx (26-27) Full-time Faculty Positions

The History Department of DePaul University invites applications for a US historian with expertise in Latinx history, Chicano history, or borderlands history for a tenure track position to begin September 2026. Responsibilities for this position include teaching American history, Latinx, borderlands, or Chicano history, and developing new courses in the candidate’s area of specialty that will appeal to a broad set of DePaul students. The faculty will be expected to teach in the History Department, as well as the University’s interdisciplinary programs like the Chicago Quarter, Honors, and the First Year Program. The ability to teach in Spanish or another language related to the candidate’s research is a plus.

Qualifications: The candidate must have a PhD in history or a related field required by September 2026. The department seeks excellence in instruction, research, and service and seeks someone who will look forward to taking on administrative responsibilities at some point in their careers.

Teaching evaluations would also be helpful for evaluating the candidate’s portfolio. Deadline for applications October 31, 2025.

General Compensation/Benefits Statement: DePaul University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the qualifications, education, experience, and training of the selected candidate, the scope and responsibilities of the position, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. Salary Information: The salary range for this 10-month position is $70,500 - $72,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
