Background of the recruitment and description of the project
Our research aims to advance a comprehensive understanding of aging by re-evaluating age-associated gene expression changes beyond the conventional transcriptome-centered framework. To this end, we employ two complementary strategies: proteome-centered multi-omics analyses and cross-species comparative approaches. First, we utilize proteome-centered multi-omics to capture age-related regulatory changes that are not reflected at the transcript level, thereby providing a more functional and mechanistic view of aging biology. Second, we integrate age-associated transcriptomic changes with cross-species transcriptome comparisons to identify conserved and divergent patterns of aging, offering insights into their biological significance. In particular, our research focuses on: (1) elucidating the roles of autophagy-lysosome pathway in age-related post-transcriptional dysregulation; (2) investigating the impact of age-dependent accumulation of proteins such as immunoglobulins in aged tissues; and (3) distinguishing detrimental versus adaptive components of age-associated gene expression changes, with the ultimate goal of translating these findings into therapeutic strategies for healthy aging.

Work content and job description
We are seeking one Assistant Professor who will be engaged in research on the mechanisms of aging. The starting date is flexible on or after October 1, 2026. The laboratory will pursue research in the following directions: (1) elucidation of aging mechanisms through large-scale data analysis using artificial intelligence; (2) in vivo intervention studies using mouse models to suppress age-related decline, focusing on targets with strong potential for real-world impact; and (3) investigation of molecular mechanisms that provide a foundation for, or have clear potential to connect with, these research directions. Within this scope, specific research themes will be considered flexibly, including proposals from applicants. For large-scale data analysis, particular emphasis will be placed on transcriptomic and proteomic data, with the aim of improving our understanding of the overall mechanisms of aging, including mechanisms shared across multiple tissues and inter-tissue communication during aging. Experience in fundamental molecular biology techniques and handling of laboratory mice is required. Experience in omics data analysis using R, Python, or related computational tools is desirable but not mandatory.
