Job Summary:
The Department of Orthopedics at the University of Colorado is seeking the ideal candidate for a full-time Assistant Research Professor to serve as an investigator within a multi-disciplinary Bone-Anchored Limb Research Group (BALRG) and to collaboratively direct clinical and wet bench research for the Bone-Anchored Limb Research Program. Work will include human subjects research and all regulatory aspects to human protocol development, FDA-Sponsored trials, in vitro and in vivo experimental planning, Contribution to molecular, cellular and animal model-based experiments, and general oversight of clinical and pre-clinical lab operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- This position will work both independently and in close collaboration with the BALRG's Principal Investigator, Dr. Jason W. Stoneback, as well as collaborators and research staff domestically and internationally.
- Development of new projects with rigorous observational and interventional methodologies to fill contemporary clinical knowledge gaps
- Completion of any FDA-level regulatory steps, including development of IDE/IND applications
- Development of human protocols for submission to the COMIRB
- Management of regulatory and research documents, such as device approvals and patient-reported outcome surveys
- Recruitment and consenting of participants to human studies and execution of outcome measure assessments in this context
- Contribution to planning laboratory experiments, including in vitro and in vivo work
- Performance of surgical procedures in animal models of limb restoration and bone-anchored limb
- Analysis and dissemination of results related to ongoing and new projects within the research group
- Manuscript development and publication
- Scientific abstract presentation at national/international conferences
- Mentorship and professional development of BALRG research trainee.
- Development of competitive applications for intra- and extramural grant funds
- Relevant work at internal, local, and regional research meetings, and participation in educational, research and other activities related to orthopedic trauma
