What you'll do and what you'll bring:
Position Function:
Provide teaching and instruction to student-athletes; develop softball student-athletes on and off the field and assist the Head Coach with program management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide teaching and instruction to student-athletes.
- Perform duties in all areas of the program at the direction of the head coach, athletic director or sport supervisor.
- Develop, in conjunction with the head coach, planning of practice sessions and competitive coaching situations.
- Organize and implement a focused and productive player development plan(s).
- Support cultivating a strong competitive recruit database, help manage and keep up to date filtering of recruiting software.
- Assess and evaluate talent and recruitment of athletes into the program; includes contact by telephone and mail; off campus evaluations; on campus visits.
- Support team travel arrangements.
- Develop scouting reports and pre-competition evaluations of opponents.
- Work in conjunction with the head coach to implement fund raising opportunities on a yearly basis.
- Support all Ball State softball camps and clinics.
- Mentor graduate assistant and/or volunteer assistant coaches.
- Show commitment to and responsibility for adherence to all rules and regulations of Ball State University, the Mid-American Conference, and the NCAA; pass the NCAA certification examination on an annual basis.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Collegiate playing experience at a competitive level and/or softball coaching experience.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.
