Assistant Teaching Professor in Cognitive or Social Psychology with Specialization in Quantitative Methods

The Department of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John, N.B., invites applications for a 3-year term position in cognitive or social psychology with a specialization in quantitative methods at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, commencing July 1, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval.

The Department offers undergraduate programs in Psychology and Biology-Psychology, as well as a Master of Arts in Psychology, a course-based Master of Applied Psychology, Research, and Evaluation, and a Ph.D. in Psychology that is offered jointly with the Department of Psychology at UNB Fredericton. The Department has a strong background in experimental/applied psychology and solid links with Horizon Health Network, and Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. The Department also contributes to the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology Program offered on the UNB Fredericton campus.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field, specializing in cognitive and/or social psychology, with a concentration in quantitative data analysis and methodologies. The successful candidate will teach a range of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, which may include cognitive or social psychology, and most importantly teach graduate courses in research methods and statistics, testing, and measurement (psychometrics). Experience with qualitative analytical methodologies would be an asset. The successful candidate will be involved in supervision for research students in the Honours program and will have the opportunity to be involved in graduate supervision if they are interested. Evidence of teaching competence will be required, as indicated by teaching evaluations, a teaching dossier, and testimonials from individuals familiar with the candidate's capabilities.

Applicants are requested to submit electronically (as a single PDF) a curriculum vitae, a teaching portfolio including a statement of teaching philosophy, a statement of research interests, and up to three reprints of recent publications to psycsj@unb.ca. Three confidential letters of reference will be required for short-listed candidates.

The salary range and fringe benefits for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022 - 2025 Collective Agreement sections 35 and 36B.
