Miami University invites applications for a dynamic and collaborative Assistant Teaching Professor in the department of Music, with a focus in the area of Music Theory, to join our vibrant and evolving music program. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in shaping the future of our curriculum while working with engaged undergraduate and graduate students.

The successful candidate will:

• Teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory and related areas
• Coordinate and develop the music theory curriculum, ensuring coherence, innovation, and alignment with program goals
• Advise and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students
• Contribute actively to departmental, divisional, and university service

About the Program

Miami University’s music program is undergoing exciting growth, including the launch of a Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry with tracks in Music Production and Music Business. The College of Creative Arts at Miami University is a dynamic, interdisciplinary community encompassing departments in art, architecture and interior design, emerging technology in business and design, music, and theatre, alongside a vibrant ecosystem of centers and institutes including the Institute for Innovation in Arts and Design, Fashion Institute, Armstrong Institute for Emerging Technology, and the Center for Community Engagement in Over-the-Rhine (Cincinnati), as well as the Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum and a nationally recognized Performing Arts Series. Minimum Qualifications

• Doctorate in Music Theory or Composition (completed by the start date of appointment)

Consideration may be given to candidates with:

• Demonstrated success teaching music theory at the college level
• Experience with curriculum development or coordination
• A student-centered approach to teaching and mentoring
