Fixed-term: This is a part-time post (0.28 FTE) and the funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
The Faculty of Economics invites applications for the post of Assistant Teaching Professor, with a special focus on Financial Economics. We particularly welcome candidates with a strong record of applied economic analysis, deep engagement with financial markets, and demonstrated excellence in pedagogy.
The successful candidate will have substantial teaching expertise in Financial Economics, with the ability to deliver high-quality instruction at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Experience translating complex financial concepts such as valuation, risk analysis, financial modelling, and the economics of securities markets into clear and rigorous teaching is essential. The role includes contributing to a range of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the Faculty.
Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant field (or have equivalent demonstrable professional experience at a level comparable in depth and rigour), and must be able to provide evidence of outstanding teaching performance. Experience mentoring students, supervising applied projects, and connecting academic content to real-world financial practice will be considered an advantage.
Applications should include:
- a curriculum vitae, including a list of publications or applied professional outputs
- details of teaching experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake teaching (including lectures, seminars, and classes), examine as required, and contribute to administrative responsibilities allocated by the Faculty Board.
Candidates should also be able to demonstrate the capacity to contribute beyond classroom teaching for example, through engagement with the broader economics discipline, contributions to the academic community, and participation in organisational or administrative activities within the Faculty.
