Special Instructions to Applicants

Applicants should include a cover letter showing evidence of successful professional experience in and knowledge of the practice of Sports Medicine, curriculum vitae, a teaching statement, and a list of three professional references (no letters required). Full consideration will be given for applications received by May 1st, 2026. After May 1st, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is August 3rd, 2026.

Job Summary

This nine-month, teaching-track faculty position requires teaching undergraduate and potentially graduate courses in the School, mentoring students, providing service to the school, college, university, and professional organizations, and assisting the program coordinator for the Sports Medicine program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teaching undergraduate and graduate coursework in sports medicine.
  2. Assisting with program development and needs in coordination with the Sports Medicine Program Coordinator.
  3. Mentoring students toward professional career goals.
  4. Participating in service to the university, college, school, community, and professional organizations.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Sports Medicine (or a closely related field).
  • Professional credential in a Sports Medicine-related field (ex: ATC, EMT, Paramedic, CSCS, or similar).
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience working with patients in a Sports Medicine (or related) field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or strong potential for teaching excellence.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from all backgrounds, programs, and colleges.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate Sports Medicine coursework.
  • Commitment to student mentoring and student-centered teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctoral degree or ABD (PhD, DAT, EdD) in a Sports Medicine or related field.
  • BOC certified (ATC) and eligible for licensure in Mississippi.
  • Current EMT or Paramedic certification
  • AHA CPR/AED instructor certified.
  • Experience with simulation or clinical skills instruction.
  • Experience with student recruitment and program development.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations related to Sports Medicine.
