RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY announces the competition for the position assistant in the group of research and teaching employees in the Division of Geochronology and Environmental Isotopes at the Institute of Physics on the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.
Job description:
- persons who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (consol. text, Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339) may enter the competition for the position of assistant in the research and teaching staff group;
- estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2026;
- workplace and type of contract: full-time employment;
- anticipated period of employment: from 01.10.2026 to 30.09.2027 (with the possibility of extension).
Requirements:
- a Master's degree or Master of Engineering degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences;
- participation in thematic conferences or symposia;
- proficiency in spoken and written Polish and proficiency in English at a minimum B2 level, sufficient to conduct teaching activities in both languages.
Additional requirements:
- ability to perform lithofacies analysis of sediments;
- ability to analyse the textural characteristics of heavy minerals and quartz;
- experience working in a GIS environment;
- experience with luminescence methods will be an advantage;
- authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

- individual development plan, including a schedule for its implementation during the period of employment;
- declaration of proficiency in spoken and written English;
- declaration of proficiency in Polish or documented experience of teaching in Polish (applies to candidates whose native language is not Polish);
- declaration that the Silesian University of Technology will be the candidate's primary place of employment;
- declaration that the candidate will assign at least 50% of their research activity to the discipline of Earth and Environmental Sciences;
- opinion from at least one academic teacher with an academic title or a postdoctoral degree regarding the candidate's suitability for work as a research and teaching employee.
