seeking a tenure-track faculty to teach in Analytical Chemistry with a medicinal chemistry or forensic chemistry focus to support our commitment to maintaining ACS accreditation and expanding research opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students. This position is essential for delivering core analytical chemistry courses that meet ACS standards, while also enriching the curriculum with forensic applications that align with student interests and career pathways in criminal justice, public health, and environmental science or a student interest in joining the pharmaceutical industry as an analytical chemist. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in modern analytical instrumentation and techniques, enabling them to lead hands-on research projects that integrate medicinal or forensic analysis with chemical investigation. By mentoring students in laboratory-based research, the faculty member will foster experiential learning and contribute to the department's scholarly output. This hire will also strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration across STEM, positioning the department to attract external funding. The successful candidate will need to teach introductory analytical chemistry courses and conduct cutting edge lab-based research with undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required. Professional experience in analytical chemistry within the medicinal chemistry or forensic chemistry subdivisions and one year of relevant postdoctoral, academic or industrial experience is preferred. Candidates are expected to possess a strong record of excellence in both teaching and research with the ability to establish an active research program with potential to seek and acquire extramural funding. Additional expectations include the ability to deliver and facilitate team-based or case-based learning, both in-person and through an online modality as well as other courses on basis of breadth and expertise. Candidates with interests that incorporate aspects of computational chemistry are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have an established and active independent research record that supports publication in peer reviewed journals or publication venues appropriate for the discipline and a strong agenda for future research. ABD candidates will be considered with degree completion by September 1, 2026.
