Assistant/Associate Professor of Cybersecurity Engineering
Job Description
Coppin State University, a fully accredited institution and a member of the University System of Maryland, is accepting applications to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Cybersecurity Engineering in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science within the College of Arts & Sciences and Education (CASE) at Coppin State University. Coppin is an urban residential Historically Black College and University (HBCU) serving nearly 3,000 students enrolled in day, evening, weekend, and online courses. The applicant must be able to teach twelve credit hours per semester across a wide range of courses, including programming, engineering, mathematics, physics, and related disciplines. Coppin's Cybersecurity Engineering Program's core courses include Cryptography, Network Security, Code vulnerability, Network Defense and Attacks, Secure Medical Information Systems, Digital Forensic Investigation, and others. The faculty will report to the chairperson of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Responsibilities
- Teach twelve credit hours per semester in a wide range of courses, which include concepts related to programming, engineering, mathematics, physics, and others. Our Cybersecurity Engineering Program's core courses include Cryptography, Network Security, Code vulnerability, Network Defense and Attacks, Secure Medical Information Systems, Digital Forensic Investigation, and others.
- Participate in scholarly activities, including publications, grant submissions, and conferences, and document professional growth and program enhancement.
- Maintain office hours, conference with students, and conduct advisement with assigned advisees.
- Participate in service activities conducted by the University, College, Department, and Community, which include outreach to Community Colleges and High Schools, and others.
- Other duties as assigned, as related to faculty workload policy.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION
The applicant must hold a Ph.D. in Cybersecurity Engineering, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; certifications in Cybersecurity are also a plus.
EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate must have notable academic and /or professional teaching experience. It is preferred that the top candidate has at least 3 years of teaching experience at a higher education level.
