Position Profile:
A Full-time Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor, depending upon experience and qualifications at the time of appointment.
Existing Vacancy Disclosure Statement:
The Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is affiliated with London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London and is presently comprised of 11 surgeons with diverse sub-specialty practices. The Division has a strong clinical and basic science research interest and is an accredited Royal College training program.
Academic and Clinical Expectations:
The successful candidate must have strong interest and clinical expertise in all types of breast reconstruction and breast surgery including gender affirming care and specifically advanced skills in microsurgical breast reconstruction. Interest in other microsurgical reconstruction cases, including lower extremity and head and neck, would be an asset. Additionally, advanced expertise in cutaneous malignancies and reconstructions. The candidate will be responsible and share equitable coverage for city-wide plastic surgery call. The successful candidate must be interested in pursuing a strong academic career and have a proven track record of productivity consistent with their level of training and years of experience. The candidate will be expected to participate actively in the Division’s academic, research, and education initiatives including teaching and supervision of undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and clinical fellows. Applicants considered at the rank of Associate or Full Professor must have demonstrated the ability to publish in the highest quality academic and subspecialty outlets and be a recognized expert in their field of research.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have an MD or equivalent; have completed an accredited Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training program; have advanced fellowship training in breast reconstruction and microsurgery or demonstrate clinical experience in breast surgery; have a strong research interest and/or an advanced degree; and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario. The candidate must have demonstrated strong collaborative and communications skills and is expected to function in multi-disciplinary clinics. Demonstration of strong teamwork in the past and adaptability as it relates to scheduling of combined oncologic cases.
Compensation Details:
Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be primarily composed of the following sources: Fee for service (OHIP billings), Alternative Funding Plan, academic salary, workers safety insurance board, and on-call reimbursement.
