Assistant/Associate/Professor of Legal Writing
Job Description – Legal Analysis, Research & Communication
Saint Louis University School of Law seeks applicants for a full-time faculty appointment in its first-year Legal Analysis, Research, and Communication (LARC) Program, beginning Fall 2026.
The successful candidate will join a team of experienced, collaborative, full-time faculty members in SLU Law's LARC Program. The Program consists of a two-semester, six-credit-hour sequence offered during students' first year of law school. The courses—LARC I and LARC II—focus on developing the legal analysis, research, legal writing, and oral communication skills essential to contemporary law practice. In addition to the traditional 3-year J.D. program taught during the day, candidates for this position will also teach in SLU Law's part-time, evening J.D. program as the need arises.
Primary responsibilities include teaching two sections of LARC I in the fall semester and two sections of LARC II in the spring semester, with support of student teaching assistants. LARC faculty also have the opportunity to develop and teach upper-level courses and summer courses, hire research assistants, serve on committees, and apply for developmental leave. LARC faculty have full voting rights relating to law school governance, curricular matters, and personnel decisions specific to LARC faculty. LARC faculty are encouraged to participate in the scholarly life of the law school and may receive additional resources to support that work.
Qualifications for this position include a J.D., a record of academic excellence, and teaching, practice, or judicial clerkship experience.
