Associate Application Developer

Job-Specific Responsibilities: This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded through 6/30/27. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding and department & university priorities. The Associate Application Developer is a full stack developer who will join the Student Information Systems team and work on the my.harvard Portal Optimization project. The developer will be expected to write basic code within the project’s technical framework, as well as perform other duties as determined by project needs.
- Gain an understanding of the core functions of the my.harvard portal in order to develop solutions that meet existing business needs, including: Enrollment, Course Search, Advising, Grades, Tasks and Holds, Activity Guide Processes, Student Profile, Student Financials, and Financial Aid.
- Perform comprehensive applications/web development with Django and FastAPI frameworks for a project of large size and complexity.
- Work as part of a team to implement business solutions.
- Write basic code of moderate complexity and maintain related documentation.
- Participate fully in the software development life cycle.
- Support technical solutions to deliver business requirements.
- Troubleshoot problems and suggest improvements to coding practices.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications: 2+ years of post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills: Hands-on experience with applications/web development with Django and FastAPI frameworks or similar. Experience writing basic code of moderate complexity and maintain related documentation; participating in the software development life cycle; supporting technical solutions to deliver business requirements; troubleshooting problems and suggest improvements to coding practices. Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software and equipment. Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor.
Additional Information: Appointment End Date: 6/30/27. Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week. Work Format Details: This is a position that is based at a Harvard campus location with some remote work options available.
