Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance
Alabama State University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications for the position of Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance. This position will have the responsibility of leading, designing, and implementing a comprehensive strength and conditioning program for the football program by collaborating with coaches, sports medicine, athletic training, and other departments to enhance player performance, ensure athlete safety, and to promote overall physical and mental development for student athletes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement strength, speed, agility, flexibility, conditioning, and recover programs specifically tailored to football student-athletes
- Develop and monitor yearly training cycles ( pre-season, in-season, post-season and off- season)
- Utilize current sport science and strength and conditioning best practices to maximize performance and minimize injury risks
- Conduct daily training sessions and provide hands-on coaching and instruction to student athletes
- Conduct player testing and performance evaluation (strength, speed, agility, power, body composition, etc.
- Work closely with Sports Medicine and Athletic Training, to support injury prevention and rehabilitation
- Utilize performance monitoring tools (e.g., GPS track)
Bachelor's degree required in exercise science, kinesiology or a related field from an accredited college/university, a minimum of 2 years of collegiate or professional strength and conditioning experience, preferably in football. Must be certified through through one or more of the following: CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist - NSCA), SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified - CSCCa), must have current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid, demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, have excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills with a strong commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes. Must be able to work evenings weekends, and travel as required. Master’s degree preferred.
