"Associate Dean - Education and Students"

The role

We are seeking an Associate Dean - Education and Students - to join the University of Bristol’s Mumbai Enterprise Campus (MEC) – a flagship transnational education initiative opening in 2026. This is a pivotal leadership role, reporting to the Executive Dean, to shape the educational vision and student experience during the foundational years of the campus. The appointment is for a 3-year fixed term, renewable for one term, and includes a substantive professorial position.

You will lead the development of MEC’s academic offer, ensuring alignment with Bristol’s curriculum and pedagogic innovation, while fostering strong two-way links between Mumbai and Bristol. This role combines strategic leadership, operational delivery, and academic contribution, with dotted-line engagement to the University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students) and collaboration across faculties.

What will you be doing?

• Educational Leadership: Drive the creation of a vibrant, future-focused curriculum and transformative student experience. Chair key committees, lead MEC development projects, and deputise for the Executive Dean.
• Academic Contribution: Deliver teaching in your area of expertise and uphold academic standards, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. Champion interdisciplinary opportunities and integrate research strengths into programme offerings.
• Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with Bristol faculties and thematic leaders to embed MEC within the University’s global education strategy and explore partnerships with industry and enterprise.
• Resource Management: Oversee staff leadership, mentoring, and wellbeing processes. Support planning cycles, budget management, and identify opportunities for income generation to ensure financial sustainability.
