Associate Dean for Rural Health and Director of the Center for Rural Health - Office of the Dean of the SOM and Department of Family Medicine - Open Rank- Associate, Professor
Job Summary
This posting represents the confluence of three closely related positions: 1) the Associate Dean for Rural Health in the School of Medicine (SOM), which is an endowed position-the Williams Family Foundation Endowed Chair for Rural Health; 2) the Director of the emerging Center for Rural Health, which will be housed in the Department of Family Medicine (DFM); and 3) the current incumbent leader of the SOM's and DFM's rural activities. The Leader will coordinate rural programs and efforts at the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC), direct rural programs in the Department of Family Medicine (DFM) and coordinate these activities with multiple external partners and stakeholders.
Examples of Work Performed
Education:
- Medical Student Education: Directing rural clerkships, clinical electives, Longitudinal Integrated Curriculum (LIC) at 18 rural sites, Rural Track program.
- Family Medicine Residency rural tracks.
- Colorado Rural Healthcare Workforce Initiative.
- Career Paths into Healthcare Program (CPHP).
- Area Health Education Center, Continuing Medical Education, post-graduate education.
Research:
- Rural healthcare workforce development, publications, CAMPHIRE (practice-based research networks).
Policy and Advocacy:
- Farley Health Policy Center, legislative support.
Clinical Care, Community Health and Engagement:
- Rural clinicians roster, graduate support, clinical preceptors, rural site clinical activity, relationships with state agencies.
Philanthropic Development: Attract grants and funding.
The Center for Rural Health will house and coordinate DFM rural efforts.
Work Location
Hybrid - 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Associate Professor):
- M.D., D.O. or equivalent.
- 7+ years medical education experience.
- 5+ years rural health research/advocacy.
- Ability to travel to rural communities.
Professor:
- M.D., D.O. or equivalent.
- 10+ years medical education experience.
- 5+ years rural health research/advocacy.
- Ability to travel.
Preferred Qualifications: Faculty appointment eligibility, rural experience, CU SOM knowledge, leadership, grant success, fundraising, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Communication, relationships, rural health understanding, commitment to excellence.
Anticipated Pay Range
Associate: $240,000-$280,000
Professor: $250,000-$310,000
