Advertised Job Summary:
The Associate Director of Digital Marketing & Fan Experience is responsible for supporting the promotion and enhancement of the University of South Carolina Athletics brand through the development and execution of strategic digital marketing initiatives, fan engagement programs, and game presentation efforts. This position works to drive attendance, ticket sales, membership growth, revenue generation, and fan satisfaction while fostering a positive image of Gamecock Athletics. The position supports marketing and fan experience efforts for all 21 varsity sports, with primary oversight of marketing strategies, attendance initiatives, and game-day experiences for men’s and women’s soccer. Additionally, the Associate Director serves as the marketing lead for the Gamecock Club and Junior Gamecock Club, assists with the development and execution of revenue-generating initiatives including the Forever Garnet program, and helps oversee digital engagement strategies related to the department’s website and mobile application.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sport management, communications, business administration, public relations, or a related field. 1-3 years of progressively responsible experience in athletics marketing, sports marketing, fan engagement, event marketing, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing marketing plans, attendance initiatives, and fan engagement programs.
- Experience planning and executing game presentation and promotional activities for athletic events.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or training interns or other project teams.
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by athletic event schedules.
Job Duties:
Marketing Strategy, Attendance Growth & Sport Oversight (20%): Serve as the primary marketing contact for men’s and women’s soccer, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive marketing and fan engagement plans designed to increase attendance, enhance the game-day atmosphere, and support revenue objectives. Create and execute digital marketing campaigns, promotional initiatives, group sales efforts, theme nights, grassroots marketing activities, and other attendance-driving programs for assigned sports and departmental initiatives.
Digital Platforms, Website & Mobile App Strategy (25%): Assist with the development, execution, and evaluation of digital marketing strategies across the Athletics website, mobile application, email platforms, and other digital communication channels.
Gamecock Club, Junior Gamecock Club & Revenue Generation (30%): Serve as the marketing lead for the Gamecock Club and Junior Gamecock Club, developing and executing marketing plans designed to increase membership, engagement, retention, and participation. Assist with the development and implementation of strategies designed to increase ticket sales, attendance, and incremental revenue through the Forever Garnet program and other departmental initiatives.
Game Day Presentation & Fan Experience (15%): Plan, coordinate, and execute all marketing and fan experience elements for assigned sporting events, including game themes, entertainment elements, promotions, sponsor activations, and fan engagement initiatives.
Supervision & Administrative Responsibilities (10%): Supervise and evaluate marketing interns assigned to sports and departmental initiatives. Provide oversight and direction for marketing support of assigned non-ticketed sports through intern management.
Additional (5%): Provide direction/game day supervision to Assistant Director of Marketing assigned to men’s basketball. Work on special projects and assignments as needed.
