Associate Director of Annual Giving

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Associate Director will identify and prioritize Annual Giving Leadership donor prospects, and work with a portfolio of assigned prospects to establish ongoing relationships. This role will also develop fundraising strategies and assist with designing and managing language for the annual giving appeals for the Med Fund and the Cancer Discovery Fund.

In this role you will:

  • Work with a portfolio of assigned prospects/donors to cultivate, solicit, and steward their support.
  • Identify and prioritize prospects, make volunteer prospects assignments, prepare background material for solicitations, and follow up with volunteers to ensure completion of assigned solicitations.
  • Establish ongoing relationships with individual alumni through personal visits, phone calls, and meaningful contacts.
  • Assist with design and management of appeals (e.g., direct mail, email, video, phone, and other channels) to target key populations to maximize fundraising potential.
  • Develop fundraising strategies, and track and analyze results of development activities.
  • Implement and lead work groups focused on stewardship and alumni engagement
  • Represent and amplify Annual Giving projects in Infrastructure meetings
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on overall results to internal and external constituencies, as needed

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience with direct mail and frontline fundraising in a higher education and healthcare environment.
  • Skilled at articulating compelling cases for major gifts and annual discretionary support.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) with particular emphasis on Excel.
  • Proven command of writing successful direct mail appeals for alumni and grateful patient audiences.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and make recommendations for future success.
  • Ability to develop and initiate new strategies.
  • Adept at problem solving, creating contingency plans and handling emergencies when necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies and effectively develops relationships that enhance overall development goals.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to set and meet deadlines.

Main Work Location: Stanford Redwood City
Schedule: Hybrid (at least 2 days per week on site). We are also open to remote employees.
