The Office of Enrollment Management (EM) at the Central Office invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Enrollment Strategy & Outreach. Reporting to the University Dean of Admissions and Recruitment, this position is situated in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment within the Office of Enrollment Management -- the Office of University Admissions promotes the University's mission statement and strategic roadmap.
The Associate Director of Enrollment Strategy & Outreach implements and manages strategic initiatives that elevate the University and its 26 colleges, targeting prospective students and key influencers through dynamic, multi-channel outreach and engagement. In direct collaboration with the University's Marketing and Communications Office, the Associate Director enhances recruitment and enrollment efforts by articulating CUNY's value and offerings. This role requires a data-driven approach to advance outreach and visibility for CUNY’s undergraduate and graduate programs, managing content strategy, web presence, communications, social media, and advertising to boost engagement and enrollment growth. The Associate Director ensures that all campaigns are audience-focused, performance-optimized, and aligned with university and campuses’ enrollment goals.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview information, other key duties include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Supervise, train, and support the Enrollment Management Strategy and Outreach team; collaborate with the Associate Director of Admissions and the Welcome Center to prepare and provide content for Admissions staff.
- Develop and manage comprehensive social media and digital strategies, including both paid and organic efforts, to engage prospective students and drive enrollment goals for domestic and global audiences.
- Convene and facilitate regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders to include campus admissions and marketing teams, enrollment management leadership, and marketing vendors; ensure integrated and effective recruitment communication strategies.
- Review and recommend communication technologies and best practices to Admissions teams and Enrollment Management leadership.
- Manage the admissions website content, ensuring it is current, accurate, and consistent across all platforms, while maintaining the integrity of the University’s brand, image, and tone in both domestic and international contexts.
- Oversee development of cohesive messaging and targeted outreach strategies for domestic and international student recruitment lifecycles, collaborating with internal recruitment teams, admissions leadership, program marketing staff, and campus support teams. Ensure accessibility and inclusivity in all communications and marketing materials, aligned with best practices for digital accessibility and diverse audience engagement.
- Monitor, analyze, and evaluate campaign performance utilizing analytics tools such as Google Analytics and region-specific platforms to track KPIs and benchmarks related to enrollment marketing, global brand awareness, and recruitment efforts.
- Provide regular reports to Admissions teams and Enrollment Management leadership to drive business decision-making.
- Participate in media procurement efforts, including placement tracking and collaboration with external vendors and University Communications & Marketing staff.
- Prepare presentations and reports supporting recruitment and communications efforts; develop regular campaign summaries and effectiveness analyses for the Admissions team and Enrollment Management leadership.
- Provide logistical and promotional support for recruitment events, virtual and in-person, managing event communications and ensuring seamless execution to maximize outreach and engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

-Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
Preferred
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in admissions, enrollment management, student services, or a related higher education environment, with demonstrated ability to train, support, and develop a high-performing team.
- Strong technical and data management skills, including experience with admissions systems, Slate CRM, Google Analytics, reporting dashboards, data visualization, social insight tools, and other technologies that support recruitment communications.
- Expertise in social media platforms, social listening software, SEO strategy and optimization tools, display media, and search advertising (Google, Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, Hulu, etc.).
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate processes, expectations, and strategic goals to staff, fostering alignment and operational clarity.
- Demonstrated ability to manage daily communications operations, optimize workflows, and create an organized, professional, and welcoming environment through effective staff support and process improvements.
- Strong collaborative leadership skills, able to engage effectively with colleagues across the University-including the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and Enrollment Management-to ensure coordinated, student-centered recruitment initiatives.
- Proficient in current and emerging trends in enrollment marketing, digital communications, and global recruitment strategies, leveraging best practices and new technologies to enhance engagement and brand awareness.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

- Develops advertising programs consistent within overall marketing plans to achieve image, awareness and/or enrollment goals
- Implements programs in print, radio, broadcasting, mail, and electronic communications, coordinating with internal units and external service providers
- Actively manages and moderates electronic content and marketing tools for both College and external web sites and sources, including social networks, video portals, and listservs
- Develops, tracks, and reports on both advertising costs (budgets) and results to assure goals are met; collects and analyzes data on exposure, traffic, and other metrics
- May supervise staff and external service providers
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range is $102,408 - $113,982 , commensurate with credentials, education and experience.
Effective 9/1/26, salaries will be adjusted by 3.25% in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement for eligible employees.
