Recruitment Range: $47,000 - $52,959The salary range advertised is the designated recruitment range for this classification. Final salary offers will be determined by the candidates education, relevant experience, internal equity alignment, and departmental budgetary parameters.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

The UNCW Department of Athletics sponsors 19 varsity sports and competes in the NCAA Division I as a member of the Coastal Athletic Association. UNCW Athletics primary purpose is to produce a competitive and successful sports program while abiding by NCAA, CAA and institutional rules and regulations. UNCW Athletics has a strong commitment to gender equity and diversity, while promoting a greater sense of integrity, leadership, sportsmanship and ethical behavior to the overall campus dynamic.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position:

The Associate Director of Facilities and Event Management coordinates the day-to-day functions of assigned sports programs, plans and organizes activities, communicates program policy and procedures, and establishes and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external university constituents including coaches, staff, officials and vendors. This position serves as the direct back up to the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Event Management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing assigned athletic facilities for upkeep and maintenance and ensuring facility is prepared and ready for competition and spectator use
  • Identifing, understanding and problem solving issues in assigned areas
  • Supervising and managing student workers and various temp employees
  • Serving as the main program contact and game day manager for assigned sports
  • Ensuring event operations for all UNCW athletic events meet set expectations
  • Managing the rental of assigned facilities and grounds maintenance for those assigned facilities
  • Assist in ground maintenance when needed

Night and weekends are required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Prior relevant working experience in Division I athletic programs.
  • Experience with athletics facilities and event management.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations concerning athletic programs.
  • Experience with electronic work order programs.
