Essential Job Duties:
At the Poole College of Management, we strive to equip every student for a lifetime of career success and impact. The Associate Director of Working Professional Careers will serve this mission by designing and delivering a robust suite of offerings tailored to advance the career aspirations of working professionals in the Jenkins Online MBA and Master's of Risk and Marketing Analytics programs.

Reporting to the Director of Graduate Career Services, the Associate Director will function as a career coach, executive coach, trainer, project manager, relationship manager, and connection facilitator. Primary responsibilities will include:

Design and Deliver Career and Professional Development Offerings - 50%

  • Identify core competencies needed by students regarding the areas of career strategy and planning, career and leadership advancement, effective job search, job offer evaluation, and negotiation.
  • Develop and implement targeted resources to meet said competency development needs. Offerings could include, but are not limited to: small group coaching, workshops, industry and alumni panels, MBA career courses (MBA 590 or 532), orientation programs, and asynchronous digital tools.
  • Provide personalized 1 on 1 coaching in areas including: career exploration and assessment interpretation, short and long-term career strategy development, positioning for advancement, leadership development, the job search, and interviewing.
  • Offerings will span a variety of modalities: synchronous, asynchronous, in-person or virtual.
  • Stay abreast of market hiring trends, recruitment timelines, and best practices in adult learning to inform offering development and delivery.
  • Liaise with career and college communications team to create awareness of offerings, programs, and events

Facilitate Relationship Building Engagements - 30%

  • Leading large-scale, elevated evening networking events with 100+ students, alumni, and employer partners.
  • Organizing intimate, targeted networking opportunities by sector, organizational level, career aspiration, etc.
  • Coordinating peer-to-peer, alumni, or employer connection or mentorship programs.
  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with employers and alumni.
  • Contributing to the larger Career Center employer and alumni engagement strategy

Impact and Outcomes Assessment - 10%

  • Support employment outcome collection, analysis, and reporting according to MBA CSEA standards.
  • Collect and analyze key metrics to evaluate student satisfaction with coaching and programming, the impact of these activities, and the overall effectiveness of working professional career and professional development offerings.
  • Deliver periodic internal reports for the career center and college leadership on full-time MBA placement and progress toward internal metric targets.

Contribute to Broader Career Center and College Success - 5%

  • Support Career Center offerings that serve all Poole College students, such as Poole College Career Fairs, the ELEVATE Mentor program, and employer relations efforts.
  • Contribute to college-level initiatives through involvement in employer relations, alumni relations, advisory boards, task forces, or committees.
  • Provide career support to other graduate student populations, such as Full-Time MBAs
  • Participation in relevant professional organizations

Other Work/Responsibilities:

  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
  • In addition to the core responsibilities of this role, there will be occasional opportunities to take on additional duties. This offers an opportunity to build on your skills, explore new areas, and gain a deeper understanding of the department's operations.

Minimum Experience/Education:

  • MBA or equivalent professional terminal degree or commensurate professional experience.
  • Previous experience in corporate business functions, non-profit management, executive search, or learning and development.
  • Experience in leadership, people management, program management, human resources, talent acquisition/recruiting, or learning and development functions.
  • Intermediate skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Be able to work flexible, long hours on a seasonal basis with compensatory time off. Some evening and weekend events and domestic travel may be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of and interest in MBA employers/careers (e.g. marketing, finance, technology, operations and supply chain management, manufacturing, etc.).
  • 5+ years experience mentoring and/or coaching coaching early career, mid-career, and senior level professionals to advance their careers.
  • Experience designing leadership and career advancement programs for mid to senior career professionals.
  • Experience in business development, account management, or fundraising.
  • Experience coordinating events reaching a wide range of professional stakeholders.
  • Training or certificate in career coaching, executive coaching, or common professional development assessments such as CareerLeader.
  • Experience in design, development, delivery, and assessment of adult learning programs.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with broader stakeholder groups to reach collective goals.
  • Experience in data-based decision-making.
  • Experienced in adult learning and design theories and practices.
  • Experience designing materials in accordance with accessibility standards.
  • Familiarity with career services technologies, such as: learning management systems like Blackboard or Canva; recruiting platforms or career services CRMs such as 12twenty or Symplicity.
