The Associate Director or Director, Sports Finance & Business Operations reports to the Assistant AD, Finance and is primarily responsible for the accounting, finance and business operations oversight of all Varsity sport activities for assigned sports. The Associate Director or Director, Sports Finance & Business Operations serves as the point person for all accounting, finance and business operations for their assigned sports. The title will be based on years of experience. This is a one-year fixed term role.

For assigned sports, your responsibilities include:

  • Accounting and finance: process all invoices and other purchases in accounting system, including finances related to sport program summer camp operations
  • Institutional NIL revenue sharing: process institutional revenue sharing payments, if applicable, and reconcile payments monthly
  • Budget management: contribute to development of budget, forecasting, and analyses to be used by varsity coaches and department leadership for key activities or decision making.
  • Commitment management: track all future financial commitments to ensure accurate forecasting and adherence to budget
  • Financial reporting: run and analyze financial reports, often from multiple systems; assist in preparation of management information reports.
  • Policy compliance: ensure all accounting and travel complies with internal department policies, conference and NCAA regulations which may require interpretation.
  • Subject-matter expertise: serve as a first line resource to assigned sports on accounting, finance, travel services and technology.
  • Cross-training: understand and participate in cross training on core functions of other Varsity sports; serve as a back-up to other functions.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned
  • This position may be provided the opportunity to travel to postseason competitions for assigned sports

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Background in intercollegiate athletics is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated professional strengths in the areas of business and finance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; analytical problem solver who is well adjusted in dealing with complex business issues involving a diverse group student athletes, coaches, and administrators.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multi-task.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal communication skills, and an ability to write professionally
  • Candidate should be well-versed in all relevant new technologies, innovations, and applications.

DAPER's Integrity:

This position, along with all DAPER coaches and staff, is responsible for the integrity of Stanford's intercollegiate athletics program, recreation and wellness department, and for the reputation of Stanford University. This position is responsible for ensuring that your involvement with DAPER activities maintains the integrity of the University's reputation and does not negatively impact the relationship between the University and its faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Additionally, this position must comply with University policies and procedures, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations.

The expected pay range for this position is $89,914-$90,000 per annum.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
