About the School of Technology & Computing
The School of Technology & Computing (STC) brings together technology education and real-world industry experience. Our programs are designed for working professionals and career changers who want to build practical, relevant skills and apply them directly to today's technology landscape. STC offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, and Cybersecurity, with flexible online and in-person learning options.
What sets STC apart is our strong connection to the technology industry. Our students learn from faculty who bring current professional experience into the classroom, connecting academic concepts to the tools, challenges, and practices they encounter in the real world. We also welcome students entering technology from nontraditional backgrounds, with bridge and preparatory courses that help them build the foundation they need to succeed.
For technology professionals and educators, STC offers an opportunity to teach students who are serious about advancing their careers. Faculty in the Greater Seattle area may have opportunities to teach online or in person, while faculty with doctoral-level expertise may also contribute to our Doctor of Information Technology program.

Job Summary
Associate Faculty in STC bring their professional expertise and teaching experience into the classroom to create an engaging, practical learning experience for adult students preparing to advance their careers in technology and computing. Faculty are expected to connect academic concepts with real-world practice, use effective and engaging teaching approaches, and support students through mentoring and meaningful interaction.
Teaching opportunities may be available in online, mixed-mode, and on-campus formats. Success in this role requires an understanding of adult learners, cultural awareness, and the ability to bridge technology skills with the broader knowledge and concepts that help students succeed in the field. Associate Faculty play an important role in helping STC students build the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills they need for meaningful careers in technology and computing.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in computing or a related field, such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering. A bachelor's degree in a STEM or related technical field is preferred.
- Relevant professional experience in one or more areas of technology and computing, with the ability to bring current industry knowledge and practices into the classroom.
- Ability to connect academic concepts with practical, real-world applications and engage adult learners through effective teaching practices.
- A genuine understanding of the practitioner-faculty model and the importance of providing students with the highest quality educational experience in technology and computing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and university leadership.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and engage respectfully with students from diverse cultural, professional, and educational backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as both an online student and an online instructor.
- Experience using learning management systems and other educational technologies.
- Doctoral degree in related technical fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology.
- Teaching or training experience in higher education, professional education, or industry. Experience teaching in both online and in-person environments.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in the technology industry.
- Relevant industry-recognized certifications.

Salary Information
Associate Faculty compensation is based on course level (undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral), the number of course credits, delivery mode, and the number of students in class. Course rates range from $2,000 to $4,000.
