Job Description

City University of Seattle School of Education and Leadership is seeking a qualified Associate Faculty to teach a Superintendent Certification course.

Course Summary

EDLD 652 is a Superintendent Certification course taught using a synchronous format with asynchronous learning opportunities through 10 online Brightspace modules delivered over 10 consecutive weeks during the Fall Quarter (October-December).

This course prepares candidates to apply tools and strategies to develop support for the design and redesign of school system structures to ensure that all children meet academic standards. The course focuses on best practices for school systems to simultaneously plan and implement initiatives that increase student achievement. Candidates utilize specific strategies to balance district authority and school autonomy while creating opportunities for collaboration, team support, and the development of diverse professional learning communities.

Part-time Teaching Faculty at City University of Seattle have three key responsibilities:

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience as a principal, program administrator, or superintendent.
  • Demonstrated ability to design or redesign school system structures to ensure that ALL children meet academic standards through a culturally responsive leadership lens.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices for school systems to simultaneously plan and implement initiatives to increase student achievement.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide learning experiences that effectively connect formal learning, application, and adult learning theory.
  • Ability to work within a team-oriented system and interact effectively with professional staff, faculty, and culturally diverse students.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical publications, and educational documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to common inquiries or concerns from students, staff members, and program leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in organizational leadership, systems improvement, district operations, and strategic planning relevant to district-level leadership.
  • Experience using the Brightspace Learning Management System (D2L) with templated course content.
  • Experience teaching or leading in a higher education setting with a diverse and global audience.
