Associate Lecturer (Education Focused), Laboratory Medicine
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) to join our Laboratory Medicine team. In this role, you will contribute to high quality teaching, learning and student experience across our Laboratory Medicine programs, with a particular focus on Haematology and Transfusion Science.
Working under the guidance of senior academics, you will deliver engaging classes, assist with curriculum development and assessment design, and support course administration in line with RMIT's quality standards. As an education focused academic, you will also actively contribute to our learning and teaching community.
About You
You are passionate about education, student success and contemporary Laboratory Medicine practice. You bring strong disciplinary knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build inclusive learning environments.
To be successful in this position, you'll have:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in Haematology and Transfusion Science.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and teach programs at tertiary level, including online delivery, and the ability to assist to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.
- Passion and commitment for innovation of education and learning.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire, work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds, and negotiate sensitively.
- Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.
- Demonstrated high level of communication skills.
Qualifications:
Mandatory: Masters or equivalent in relevant field, or equivalent qualifications and experience
Preferred: Recent experience working in a diagnostic laboratory

Position Details
- Part-time (0.8 FTE), Fixed Term position until 15 June 2027 (Maternity Leave Cover)
- Salary Academic Level A ($80,755 - $109,536 p.a. pro rata) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements
- Based at the Bundoora campus with potential work across other RMIT campuses
About the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences
The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences comprises three Academic areas (Clinical Sciences, Health Sciences, and Medical Sciences). Primarily based at the RMIT Bundoora campus, we undertake teaching and research across our disciplines of: Biomedical Science, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Radiations, Nursing, Osteopathy, Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physiotherapy, and Psychology. Our programs all included embedded Work Integrated Learning as an intrinsic part of student learning, both through professional practice placements in partner health industries and through the University's student led RMIT Health Clinic located at Bundoora.
The School's research was ranked as well above world standard in clinical science, complementary and alternative medicine, medical physiology, microbiology and pharmacology, and pharmaceutical sciences, and above world standard in psychology, public health and health service, and medical and health sciences. We have a strategic focus on chronic disease and multidisciplinary health care with cross-cutting themes of: Respiratory Health, Neurodevelopment and Neuroinflammation, Ageing in Health and Disease, Diagnostics, Therapeutics and Translational Immunology in Cancer Care, Cardiometabolic Health, Mind and Body Rehabilitation, Digital Health, and Health by Design. Research within the School is supported by modern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment as well as a significant number of national and international partners.
