About This Opportunity
The School of Design & Built Environment is strengthening its teaching capacity and leadership through the appointment of a teaching-focused academic at Associate Lecturer (ALA) or Lecturer (ALB) level. Our programs emphasise sustainable environments, design thinking and practice-based excellence, preparing graduates to address complex urban challenges.
An Associate Lecturer or Lecturer will play a significant role in enhancing the capacity of the Urban and Regional Planning discipline in the School of Design and the Built Environment. In this role, you will be part of a vibrant institution and a dynamic team with a passion for teaching, and industry and community engagement.
The successful candidate will be an experienced educator able to deliver the Urban and Regional Planning curriculum across our undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees. This will involve the coordination and/or teaching of units both in person and online, and engaging with students, collaborators, and industry and community partners.

Essential Criteria
- ALA Only- Progress towards a doctoral qualification in Urban & Regional Planning or a relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role)
- ALB Only - A doctoral qualification in Urban & Regional Planning or relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
- Proven high-level teaching skills with demonstrated experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Proven proficiency in Urban Design and Urban and Economic development
- Evidence of industry experience as a planning practitioner or relevant industry engagements.
- Track record of engagement with industry, community, or government in relation to teaching.
- Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
