"Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Management Information Systems"

The Management Information Systems (MIS) area of the Department of Management and Marketing (MM) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in MIS at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor. Covering the three core business disciplines of Management, Marketing, and Management Information Systems (MIS), MM is a department in the Faculty of Business at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).

With around 70 full-time academic staff, MM offers a comprehensive range of programmes spanning bachelor, master’s, and doctoral levels. The MIS area of MM has experienced strategic growth in recent years with the addition of both internationally recognised senior scholars as well as young and ambitious researchers. MIS faculty members are passionate in pursuing research that pushes the frontiers of research and are publishable in premium journals (e.g., MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Science, Journal of Operations Management, as well as Production and Operations Management, among others), and they actively shape the field, serving as Senior Editors and Associate Editors of pre-eminent journals.

The appointee will be required to (a) engage in top-level scholarly research in their areas of expertise; (b) supervise research students; (c) secure competitive research grants from external funding agencies; (d) teach at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels; and (e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

Applicants should have a PhD degree or equivalent in the field of specialization at the time of appointment or be close to receiving it. Preference will be given to those with a research orientation with demonstrated ability to publish in premium scholarly journals as well as teaching experience in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or Data Analytics.

Conditions of Service: The compensation package, research support and teaching loads are highly competitive and commensurate with candidates’ qualifications. Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. An appropriate term will be provided for appointment at Associate Professor level.
