The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (CBC) at the University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor position starting in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment within CBC and will have strong opportunities to collaborate with numerous Centers of Excellence across multiple colleges.
We seek candidates with a research and education program focused on the chemistry of materials for energy science and applications, broadly defined. The successful candidate will maintain and expand a vigorous, productive, and nationally and internationally highly recognized research program, and will contribute significantly to, and lead, medium- and large-scale collaborative research efforts with partners on and off campus.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and expand a vigorous, productive, and nationally and internationally highly recognized research program.
- Contribute significantly to, and lead, medium- and large-scale collaborative research efforts with partners on and off campus.
- Teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and contribute to innovation in curricular development.
- Mentor students in an effective and respectful manner.
- Participate in outreach and contribute to departmental, college, and university service.
- Develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement and expanding collaborations with community and business partners.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellence in energy science-related molecular research and education.
- Ability to acquire, maintain, and expand external funding.
- Demonstrated leadership in collaborative research programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Postdoctoral research experience.
- Demonstrated track record of funding.
- Demonstrated impact on research field.
- Prior experience as tenured faculty member at a US institution or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience mentoring students.
- Experience in obtaining mid- to large-scale collaborative external research funding.
- Committed to working with faculty members in advancing research and practice.
- Ability to work with a variety of student populations, stakeholders, and colleagues.
