Associate Professor, Clinician Educator or Tenure Track, Adolescent Medicine- HIV/AIDS Research
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Adolescent Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Associate Professor positions in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine and Adolescent Medicine strongly preferred.
Teaching responsibilities may include inpatient and/or outpatient clinical and teaching responsibilities.
Clinical responsibilities may include Inpatient and/or outpatient primary and specialty care in Adolescent Medicine at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and participate in clinical education of medical students, residents and fellows as a member of the Craig-Dalsimer Division of Adolescent Medicine. Multiple sites of practice are available including a primary care practice, specialty care satellite locations and inpatient units at CHOP and a behavioral health hospital.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include a primary focus on adolescent or young adult health research relevant to HIV prevention or care, which may interface with related domains of STIs, sexual/gender minority youth, substance use, mental health, health disparities, parent-teen relationships, community-engaged research, and similar areas. While both tenure and clinician-educator track faculty conduct methodological and collaborative research, tenure track faculty focus primarily on independent, investigator driven research while clinician-educator track faculty focus primarily on collaboration. Depending on the Track, expectations will be to develop and lead a research program funded by independent research funding.
It is anticipated that this faculty member will be an active participant in the Penn CFAR research community, which provides extensive services and activities geared to advance HIV/AIDS research. Leadership positions in these areas may also be available, such as Co-Director for the Adolescent/Pediatric component of the CFAR Clinical Core. We are seeking candidates with a strong record of research productivity and scholarship demonstrating an established or emerging national reputation.
