About The Team

The School of Veterinary Medicine delivers an internationally accredited veterinary science program with a strong focus on developing students’ core clinical competencies through training in our hospital, clinics, and clinical services.

Animal Welfare science and ethics is a key discipline within the School, contributing both to teaching and research that informs evidence-based decision-making and industry policy.

Your New Role!

An Associate Professor is expected to develop scholarly research and professional expertise within their discipline, demonstrating a strong record of academic excellence and nationally or internationally impactful research. They make significant contributions to postgraduate supervision and take on leadership roles in University administration. The role also requires strong engagement with industry and external stakeholders to support the Discipline and the University. In addition, an Associate Professor contributes substantially to teaching across the Discipline, as well as to the broader College and profession.

Your key responsibilities will include –

Lead impactful national and international research and supervise Honours, Masters, HDR and postgraduate students

Deliver high-quality teaching across all formats while innovating in pedagogy and leading curriculum and program development

Provide academic leadership, build industry partnerships, and contribute to the School, University and professional service duties

This Continuous | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $166,186 – $182,899 (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Registrable veterinary degree with veterinary Practice Board of WA, advanced professional qualifications, and a PhD relevant to the appointment

Extensive experience teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a strong record in curriculum design, pedagogy, and leading program development

Proven track record of high-quality, internationally impactful research outputs and success in attracting competitive external research funding

Strong record of successfully supervising Honours, Masters, HDR, and postgraduate students, alongside demonstrated leadership in teaching, research, and academic administration

Established links with industry and external stakeholders, excellent written and oral communication, and strong interpersonal skills with effective teamwork and leadership in interdisciplinary environments
