Position Summary
The Neuroscience Institute seeks a dynamic faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank to advance research, education, and translational impact in neurodegenerative diseases. The ideal candidate will have a strong record in molecular and cellular neuroscience, neurogenetics, biomarker discovery, and translational therapeutics, with demonstrated leadership in collaborative, multi-disciplinary environments.
Key Domains & Responsibilities
Research Leadership & Program Development
- Develop and sustain an independent, high-impact research program in neurodegeneration, molecular/cellular neuroscience, neurogenetics, or related domains.
- Advance understanding of disease mechanisms, including protein aggregation, RNA biology, endolysosomal pathways, and neuroinflammation.
- Lead or participate in multi-PI, multi-institutional grants and collaborative projects.
- Publish in high-impact journals and present at national/international conferences.
Biomarker Discovery & Translational Science
- Drive biomarker discovery for neurodegenerative diseases, including fluid, RNA, and protein-based markers.
- Develop and validate translational approaches for diagnostics, prognostics, and therapeutic targets.
- Engage with industry, clinical, and regulatory partners to accelerate therapeutic innovation.
Mentorship, Education & Community Building
- Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty in advanced neuroscience research.
- Contribute to curriculum development, teaching, and training programs.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and psychologically safe research environment.
Strategic Partnerships & Institute Administration
- Collaborate across departments and centers to leverage shared resources and infrastructure.
- Serve on Institute committees, contribute to strategic planning, and help operationalize the Director’s vision.
- Represent the Institute in national and international consortia, advisory boards, and scientific societies.
Compliance, Diversity & Academic Service
- Ensure compliance with research integrity, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in recruitment, mentorship, and research activities.
- Serve as a reviewer, editor, or advisor for scientific journals, grant agencies, and professional organizations.
Qualifications
- PhD, MD, or equivalent in Neuroscience, Cellular/Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated record of scholarly impact, extramural funding, and leadership in academic/research organizations.
- Expertise in neurodegeneration, molecular neuroscience, biomarker discovery, or translational therapeutics.
- Experience in mentoring, teaching, and academic service.
- Commitment to collaborative science, diversity, and institutional advancement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with NIH R01/P01 or equivalent multi-PI grants.
- Leadership in biomarker and therapeutic development for neurodegenerative diseases.
- Editorial or advisory roles in major neuroscience journals and societies.
- Track record of successful industry, clinical, or regulatory partnerships.
