The Faculty of Law invites applications for a full-time continuing academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with a concurrent term appointment as the Canada Impact+ Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence, aligned with the federal strategic priority area of Advanced Digital Technologies (including AI, quantum computing, and cybersecurity).

A Canada Impact+ Research Chair provides up to $8 million over eight years ($1 million per year), with potential for a four-year extension. Successful nominees start within 12 months of accepting the award. Appointed to full-time tenured position at Full Professor or Associate Professor with promotion opportunity. Salary based on qualifications and experience per University of Manitoba Faculty Association collective agreement. Includes start-up package and CFI funding opportunities.

Responsibilities:

• Teaching: Teach in research expertise and core graduate/undergraduate curricula.
• Research: Established program in Advanced Digital Technologies, AI and law (governance, regulation, rights, etc.). Provide leadership, build teams, partnerships.
• Service: Faculty governance, institutional service.

Qualifications:

• J.D./LLB or equivalent + advanced degree (PhD or equiv.) or comparable expertise.
• Research excellence/leadership for Associate/Full Professor.
• Teaching excellence for core curricula.
• Commitment to collegial service.

Appointment dependent on successful Canada Impact+ Research Chair Award (two-stage process).
