Associate Provost

Job Details

Cedar Crest College (Allentown, PA) seeks a strategic, collaborative, and experienced academic leader to serve as Associate Provost.

The Position:

The Associate Provost is a senior leader of Cedar Crest’s Academic Affairs division team and will hold broad responsibility for fostering academic quality, faculty development, and institutional effectiveness during a period of purposeful growth and academic progress at the College.

Reporting directly to the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Provost provides leadership for the College’s assessment, accreditation, and regulatory compliance obligations; oversees faculty development and the Learning Commons; and works in close partnership with academic and student success leaders to advance student learning, success, and belonging.

The Associate Provost plays a central role in sustaining and strengthening Cedar Crest’s academic enterprise. The position combines institutional academic stewardship—particularly in accreditation and compliance—with forward-looking leadership in faculty development, teaching excellence, and continuous improvement across undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful candidate will join a Provost’s Office that values collaboration in shared governance, clarity in our collective problem-solving together, and the ability to move thoughtfully and purposefully from strategy to action. The Associate Provost fulfills the duties of the Provost when the Provost is not available.

Why Cedar Crest College?

The successful candidate will step into the Associate Provost role during an exciting period of growth and innovation for Cedar Crest as a comprehensive college. As a women's college with co-educational graduate and adult-learner programs, Cedar Crest offers 38 bachelor-degree programs and an advancing portfolio of 16 master degrees and 4 practitioner doctorates. Our mission is to educate the next generation of leaders, especially women, for life in a global community. Our students include many who are the first in their families to attend college and represent a wide range of racial and ethnic backgrounds, national origins, socioeconomic circumstances, religious traditions, gender identities, abilities, and ages. Cedar Crest fosters a professional culture in which we build solutions and aspirations together, lead and make decisions collaboratively, and contribute directly to the quality of our students’ learning experiences.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the College’s assessment, accreditation, and compliance functions, including institutional accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and coordination of specialized academic program accreditations, authorizations, and licensure requirements.
  • Provide strategic oversight of institutional assessment and continuous improvement, including annual assessment processes and Periodic Program Review, to strengthen academic quality and student learning.
  • Direct faculty development initiatives across undergraduate and graduate programs, including New Faculty Orientation, bi-annual Faculty Workshops, and professional development supporting effective teaching across instructional modalities.
  • Oversee the Learning Commons, including supervision of the Faculty Director, and ensure strong alignment among teaching support, instructional design, and academic skill development.
  • Collaborate with academic leaders, the Division of Student Success and Engagement, and other professional colleagues to coordinate among teaching practices, academic policies, and learner supports with institutional goals for student learning, persistence, and success.
  • Serve as the Provost’s designee for academic policy, governance, and compliance matters, including service to key faculty and institutional committees and administrative liaison to the Institutional Review Board.
  • Co-chair the College’s Compliance Committee with the Chief Financial Officer and support institution-wide regulatory and policy adherence.
  • Act on behalf of the Provost when necessary, including participation in academic ceremonies, recruitment events, emergency response, and continuity of Academic Affairs leadership.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Doctoral or other terminal degree in an academic field required
  • Minimum of five years of experience in higher-education academic leadership, including assessment, accreditation, faculty development, curricular design, or related academic operations
  • Strong knowledge of higher-education accreditation (institutional and specialized) and regulatory compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, college staff, academic leaders, and student success partners
  • Experience with academic policy, governance processes, and data-informed decision-making
  • Demonstrated success as a college-level educator
  • Superior problem-solving, communication, organizational, analytical, and leadership skills from a servant-leader, change-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, mission-driven college environment

Application Process:

Review of applications will begin immediately. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled; applications received before 2/6/2026 will receive priority consideration. The anticipated start date is June 2026.

Applicants should submit:

  • Letter of interest addressing qualifications and interest in the role
