"Associate Research Scientist in the Center for Smart Engineering Materials – Dr. Mahmoud Rasras"

The Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM) at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking an Associate Research Scientist to support the development of advanced sensors for environmental monitoring, with a particular focus on applications in the oil and gas sector.

The successful candidate will contribute to an exciting research program aimed at designing and validating smart sensing technologies for the detection and monitoring of environmental parameters relevant to energy, sustainability, and industrial systems. The work will involve the development and integration of novel sensing materials, devices, and system-level solutions. The research will be conducted within the CSEM research ecosystem, which provides access to modern facilities and tools for device design, fabrication, and experimental characterization. Experience with integrated photonics platforms is considered a strong advantage, but candidates with backgrounds in sensing, materials, optoelectronics, or related areas are strongly encouraged to apply. The Associate Research Scientist will work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment, interacting with PhD-level scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers, and contributing to both fundamental research and application-driven projects.

Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree from a recognized institution of higher learning and possess at least six years of relevant professional experience, not including the years spent obtaining the terminal degree, along with a strong record of research and publication in well-recognized journals or conference proceedings.
