Associate Research Scientist
Columbia University’s Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology & Oncology Associate Research Scientist to lead a project investigating the role of chromatin structural changes in normal and malignant bone marrow function in the development and differentiation of cellular blood components. The position involves using in vitro cell culture, transgenic mouse models, and primary patient samples, applying an array of techniques to assess DNA architecture, epigenetic modifications, and gene expression programs. Some specialized training would be expected, regardless of experience. Applicants would provide support in various projects in the laboratory with the expectation of overseeing a scientific project as determined jointly.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintenance of organized laboratory records.
- Maintainance of lab supplies, mouse colony, animal husbandry, lab organization of samples, cell lines, plasmids, prepare universal solutions, and other duties as assigned.
- Interaction with lab personnel, academic and industry collaborators.
- Expected to follow the protocols and procedures of the laboratory, which are established by individual laboratory heads.
Successful candidates are expected to contribute to the expansion of lymphoid leukemia research on campus and contribute to the academic mission of the school. They will also be a part of a vibrant and expanding Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center community.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD with a minimum of two years lab experience.
