Associate Research Scientist
The Gallitto Lab is seeking a highly motivated ARS to join our translational pediatric neuro-oncology program. Our research focuses on identifying novel targeted therapies and radiosensitizers for diffuse midline glioma (DMG) and leveraging advanced drug-delivery platforms—including focused ultrasound (FUS) and convection-enhanced delivery (CED)—to overcome the blood–brain barrier. Our projects integrate mechanistic DNA damage/repair biology, single-cell sequencing, high-throughput drug screening, and orthotopic mouse modeling.
- Lead in vitro mechanistic studies (DNA damage/repair assays, Western blotting, CRISPR perturbations, histopathology, FACS).
- Perform in vivo DMG mouse work, including stereotactic brainstem implantation, CED pump placement, RT on our Small Animal Radiation Research Platform (SARRP), PK studies, and survival analyses.
- Execute drug screening and combination therapy studies with drugs/compounds in the context of radiation both in vitro and in vivo
- Analyze and interpret data, contribute to manuscripts and grants, and help advance projects toward clinical translation.
Requirements
- PhD or MD/PhD in cancer biology, neuroscience, molecular biology, radiation biology, or related field.
- Strong experience in mammalian cell culture and mouse handling/survival surgery.
- Background in DDR/PARP biology, cancer neuroscience, and radiation biology preferred
- Experience with intracranial tumor models, CED/FUS, or LC/MS pharmacokinetics is a major plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to drive independent projects.
