Associate Research Scientist
The Department of Surgery at Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons is accepting applications for an Associate Research Scientist in the Section of Adult Cardiac Surgery. The individual will develop novel aortic therapies based on clinical outcome studies and advance imaging analysis. In particular, the individual will be trained in advance biostatistics and imaging-based blood flow analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Perform biostatistical analysis.
- Process imaging data to perform blood flow analysis.
- Maintain Aortic Center database.
- Discuss the results with the PI and other lab members.
- Attend/present at seminars and conferences, and participate in various collaborations.
- Continuously learn and acquire new knowledge and skills for successful execution of the projects.
- Develop innovative ideas to promote his/her own professional career.
- Apply for grants whenever appropriate mechanisms become available.
Additional responsibilities include academic research, (participation in clinical and/or basic research) in accordance with our compliance and excellence in quality care programs, to include active participation in the education of research fellows, residents and medical students. Responsibilities include participation in the academic and research missions of the University and the Department of Surgery.
We seek a highly motivated, meticulous, and organized individual who can develop and pursue his/her own innovative ideas, while working in collaboration with other lab members and outside collaborators.
Qualifications:
- MD/PhD
- Research experience in imaging analysis.
- Proficient in biostatistics.
- Ability to perform blood flow analysis with a software.
- Clinical experience in cardiac and aortic surgery.
