Job Summary
Incumbent provides overall leadership and direction for the College's Academic Affairs function.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for ensuring instructional programs meet appropriate accreditation and compliance standards.
- Develop transfer and articulation agreements for the College with four-year partners.
- Ensure curriculum alignment across the District.
- Serve as the point person for State reporting for all instructional matters (new)
- Serve as the instructional leader for the District for all instructional shared governance and curriculum matters (new)
- Develop and provide recommendations to the Vice Chancellor of Instruction and Student Affairs and/or Executive Cabinet on all instructional matters (new)
- In collaboration with instructional deans and vice presidents develop and implement instructional assessment models.
- In collaboration with faculty deans, and vice presidents develop, implement and support career, technical, and academic pathways initiatives.
- Develop, implement and maintain districtwide procedures and processes regarding dual credit/enrollment.
- In collaboration with faculty and instructional leaders, develop and implement instructional grants.
- Support district library technical needs.
- Regularly review and make recommendation for revision, if needed, to district policies.
- As directed by the Vice Chancellor of Instruction and Student Affairs, implements and manages district wide instructional plans in alignment with the strategic plan (i.e., program vitality and educational master planning).
- In collaboration with deans, vice presidents and presidents, develops, implements and manages district wide framework for instructional initiatives in alignment with the strategic plan.
- Provides leadership and directs the implementation of internal operations in districtwide instructional functions.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field to assigned area
- Five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in a higher education setting.
- Minimum two (2) years full-time teaching at the college level.
- Minimum two (2) years' experience creating curriculum and implementing assessment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree preferred.
- Experience in a multi-campus district preferred.
- Experience in a unionized environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current trends in higher education including use of AI, curriculum oversight, and assessment/program review.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of executive and strategic leadership
- Knowledge of principles and practices of higher education management.
- Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of public and business administration.
- Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of budgeting, procurement and human resource management.
- Knowledge of recent developments, current literature/trends, and sources of information in assigned field.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of budgeting and fiscal management; working knowledge of fund accounting.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of strategic planning.
- Knowledge of conflict resolution and negotiation strategies.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of intergovernmental relations.
- Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective oral presentations.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations.
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
- Knowledge of specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.
- Knowledge of modern office technology.
- Skilled in managing, supervising, evaluating and motivating staff.
- Skilled in training, coaching and overseeing the development of staff.
- Skilled in directing the analysis, evaluation and interpretation of written materials and statistical data for reports and recommendations.
- Skilled in reading, analyzing, evaluating, interpreting and summarizing written materials and statistical data.
- Skilled in authoring and editing complex reports and documents.
- Skilled in exercising strategic and political acumen, tact and diplomacy.
- Skilled in reviewing research and implementing industry trends, solutions and best practices.
- Skilled in managing standards and quality assurance.
- Skilled in directing the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards.
- Skilled in managing budgets and allocating resources to achieve strategic objectives.
- Skilled in strategic planning and the development and effective execution of work plans that incorporate and execute District policy objectives and directives.

- Skilled in directing the interpretation and application of applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards.
- Skilled in providing customer service.
- Skilled in utilizing computers and relevant software applications.
- Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require reaching, keyboarding, standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
