Associate Vice President & Chief Experience Officer

The University of South Florida seeks a strategic, innovative, and highly collaborative leader to serve as Associate Vice President & Chief Experience Officer. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, this executive will lead university-wide efforts to design, evaluate, and continuously improve the experience of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community stakeholders.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced administrator who can translate institutional priorities into practical, measurable, and sustainable improvements across a large, complex, multi-campus public research university. The Chief Experience Officer will help advance a culture of service excellence, accountability, innovation, operational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

Position Overview

The Chief Experience Officer will be responsible for advancing an enterprise-wide experience strategy across academic, administrative, digital, physical, and service-oriented touchpoints. This role will assess current-state experiences, identify barriers and opportunities for improvement, and implement scalable solutions that strengthen how members of the USF community interact with university services, systems, and operations.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience in organizational effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, process improvement, service design, change management, and cross-functional leadership. This leader must be able to build trust, work across complex units, and move strategic priorities into action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead university-wide efforts to improve stakeholder experience across services, systems, and administrative touchpoints.
  • Partner with senior leadership, academic units, administrative departments, and campus stakeholders to identify opportunities for service improvement and operational alignment.
  • Use data, feedback, process review, and assessment tools to evaluate current experiences and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Champion a culture of service excellence, responsiveness, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support scalable improvements that enhance institutional effectiveness and create a more seamless university experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, organizational leadership, higher education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of twelve years of experience in organizational effectiveness, process improvement, operations, consulting, or a related field, including seven years of management experience.
  • Proven ability to design and implement strategies that improve service delivery, stakeholder experience, and organizational performance.

In accordance with Florida Senate Bill 1310, required education may be substituted with additional years of directly related experience as permitted by law. For this position, four years of direct experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree, subject to applicable employment eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration, public administration, higher education administration, organizational leadership, or a related field.
  • Experience in higher education, government, healthcare, or another complex, mission-driven organization.
  • Experience in a senior leadership role, such as Director, Associate Vice President, Assistant Vice President, Chief Experience Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, or equivalent.
  • Formal training or certification in process improvement, change management, service design, or project management, such as Lean Six Sigma, Prosci, CCMP, or PMP.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale, enterprise-wide transformation or experience improvement initiatives.
  • Experience developing and using metrics, dashboards, and analytics to inform decision-making and track performance.
