Central Connecticut State University (Central) invites applications
for two positions for Associate Vice President for Academic
Affairs. The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Academic Affairs is
a managerial position that reports to the Provost & Vice
President of Academic Affairs and will be responsible for providing
transformative leadership aligned with institutional priorities.
Specifically, one Associate Vice President (AVP) for Academic
Affairs will oversee Graduate Studies and Research, while a second
AVP for Academic Affairs will oversee program development,
operations, and support student success.

About Central’s Office of the Provost & Vice President of
Academic Affairs
The Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs serves as the
university’s chief academic officer and works collaboratively with
faculty, academic leaders, and university administration to advance
academic excellence and institutional priorities.
The Office of the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs is
responsible for supporting and advancing the University’s mission
by overseeing areas, such as academic programming, academic support
areas, program and curriculum development, and faculty affairs to
ensure excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarship. The
office collaborates with the University’s colleges and schools,
departments, and campus offices to uphold academic standards,
support student success, and promote continuous improvement across
all academic initiatives.
Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated
for appointment based on the following:
Education:
A doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited
institution.
Experience and Training:
- Seven (7) years of professional administrative and leadership
experience in higher education administration including academic
affairs, student support services, or enrollment management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple divisions or subunits
within Academic Affairs, each having separate goals and objectives,
organizational structures, and operating budgets.
- Demonstrated experience in developing relationships with
faculty and promoting and enriching an academic environment.
- Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to
successfully perform administrative functions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in higher education
metrics and analysis; Federal and State laws and regulations
governing higher education, student rights, research, and
ethics.
Ideal Candidate
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Evidence of academic performance sufficient to qualify for
faculty rank at the level of professor.
- Administrative experience in higher education at the level of a
Department Chair, Division Director, or Dean.
- Experience working within a unionized workforce.
- Experience with the development and implementation of new or
expanded initiatives or programs within academic affairs that
require Executive, Board or Legislative approval.

Compensation and Employee Benefits
The
Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs is
compensated at the
Executive 1 salary level in accordance
with CSCU Human Resources Policies for Management and Confidential
Professional Personnel.
The salary range for the Executive 1 is
from $147,054 to $220,581. Salary will be commensurate with
education, experience, and funding.
