Athletic Trainer I
Job Summary
The Athletic Trainer I implements individualized, sport-specific rehabilitation and physical re-conditioning programs for injured athletes in assigned sport(s) under limited clinical supervision. Performs clinical evaluations of acute and chronic injuries. Consults with team physicians regarding injuries, imaging, and definitive diagnoses. Utilizes various protective equipment to help prevent injuries. Provides immediate response and emergency care for medical situations occurring during practice and competition. Maintains accurate medical records and provides healthcare information and counsel to athletes, parents, and coaches. Provides functional guidance to athletic training students working with assigned sport(s).
Required Minimum Qualifications
Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing and some athletic training experience. Current CPR and First Aid certification. State of Alabama Athletic Trainer's Association License or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications
Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge
Basic knowledge of NCAA Division I policies and procedures. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
