About the Job
The Audio Visual & Systems Lead is responsible for delivering comprehensive audiovisual (AV) services in support of Auxiliary managed spaces, including but not limited to, residence halls, dining facilities, conference rooms, and event venues. This role involves planning, coordinating, and administering Audio Visual (AV) programs, processes, and systems. They ensure the seamless operation, maintenance, and enhancement of AV systems while aligning with the strategic goals of the Auxiliaries and Fiscal Innovation (AFI) team.
The AV & Systems Lead serves as the primary point of contact for AV troubleshooting, incident resolution, and customer service. The position also plays a key role in:
- Overseeing daily AV operations and ensuring service excellence across all supported locations
- Managing and maintaining AV infrastructure, including hardware, software, and integrated systems
- Coordinating with vendors and service providers to support procurement, installation, and maintenance
- Assessing campus needs and recommending improvements to enhance user experience and system performance
- Supporting broader technology initiatives, including computer hardware and point-of-sale (POS) system hardware used within Auxiliary Services
- Driving process improvements and contributing to long-term planning for AV and systems-related projects
This role requires a proactive, solutions-oriented professional who can balance technical expertise with a commitment to service and operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary point of contact for comprehensive AV services and support across but not limited to, residence halls, dining facilities, conference rooms, and event spaces managed by AFI. Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots audiovisual systems-including live streaming and video conferencing tools-to support in person and online events. Performs assessment, independent troubleshooting, repair and configuration of AV systems and devices.
- Coordinates preventative and emergency maintenance of technology in Event Spaces, Residence Halls and Dining or Retail spaces with vendors, Campus I.T, and other campus partners. Performs software updates, hardware replacement, and upgrades in Auxiliaries Spaces.
- Engages with clients to assess event technology requirements and recommends suitable solutions to meet specific needs. Offers consultative guidance on technical methods, media techniques, and equipment to enhance presentation quality. Advises users on available technical options and collaborates on planning and implementing new equipment installations and upgrades
- Utilizes effective data collection techniques to define technical requirements for events and technology initiatives. Establishes standards, processes, and procedures to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery. Creates user documentation, drives process improvements, and develops system design specifications. Coordinates special programs and projects in audiovisual and technology domains-including event spaces, residence halls, and dining or retail locations. Works with diverse media technologies, networks, and computer hardware/software, applying tailored solutions to complex or atypical challenges.
- Applies project management concepts in combination with AV IT policies and procedures in determining technical support work flow. Evaluates external content for compliance with unit and content posting standards. Assists in researching and evaluating new technologies.
- Develops and provides training as needed based on consultation with users and their understanding of AV technologies.
- Provides technical support for the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer hardware point-of-sale (POS) systems and digital signage within Auxiliary Services. Assists with software updates, system imaging, and manages the full hardware lifecycle to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
Qualifications
EDUCATION and REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in related area.
- 3 years of progressively responsible related experience in Audio Visual Systems or 7 years of progressively responsible related experience in lieu of degree.
- AV Manufacturer Specific Certifications (Preferred)
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively in diverse, cross-functional teams. Skilled in communicating with both technical and non-technical personnel at all levels of the organization
- Experience delivering customer service in a technical environment, including managing support tickets, providing multi-channel assistance (in-person, phone, and digital), escalating incidents, triaging issues, and contributing to problem resolution and root cause analysis
- Proficient in using audiovisual configuration and monitoring tools for systems including Crestron, AMX, Biamp, Poly, and Zoom. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with AMX and Crestron control systems. (Preferred)
- Familiarity with the operational and cultural dynamics of higher education institutions, including collaboration with academic and administrative departments. (Preferred)
- Hands-on experience operating and maintaining sound reinforcement systems and live video production setups, including mixing consoles, microphones, cameras, and streaming equipment. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of professional A/V equipment and systems to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot, configure, and enhance the AV systems.
- Skills to determine priorities based on knowledge of work area. Self-motivated and work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of computer, media, and networking technology.
- Ability to assess campus needs for AV IT technology products and design services to meet those needs.
